We left the nasty lady’s B&B and headed north to the Harts. It looked a little dicey for most of the way, but we only got rained on a little. We saw the Collegiate Peaks of Princeton, Yale and Harvard, and we drove through Fairplay. Fairplay is the town on which the show South Park is based. We actually resisted the urge to stop and buy t-shirts, mostly because we have already bought way too many.
The ride to the Harts was beautiful, and their house up in the mountains is absolutely gorgeous. This was a highlight for us because, for once, we had people to talk to besides each other. Life on the road can be a bit lonely, unless you manage to hook up with loved ones along the way. We were glad to end our journey with them.
We saw a rec league football game before heading to Evergreen for a pizza dinner beside a raging river. The amount of water here post-flood really is unbelievable, considering how dry they were when summer started. One wonders; is this boomeranging between extremes really going to be the new normal, and, if so, how will we respond?
Oh, on our way to dinner, there was a herd of elk….
